Mr. Moon has become iconic in this entire adventure. I believe we all needed a little comical relief, and the forever shining light has provided just that.

If you missed it, Mr. Moon is a kitchen light that brightly welcomed me to my new home. I appreciated his comforting glow as the dogs, and I learned to navigate our home for the first few nights.

Assuming that he needed a break from being so brilliant, I started to look for his off switch. I searched high. I searched low. Yet no switch. I opened cabinet doors. I pulled out all of the draws. Yet no switch.

I searched upstairs without success. I thought about navigating the crawl space, but what a mess. I knocked on the walls, looking for a secret space. I moved sofas. Picked up plants. Yet no switch.

“Mr. Moon, you are just beaming, but wouldn’t you rather be dreaming?” I asked.

Stoic and boastful, filled with pride in his guiding light. He continued to shine…

I set up a ladder to pull his bulb. I sought out his breaker to avoid being blinded.

Success! Mr. Warm and Inviting has finally grown cold. His empty socket seemed defeated as it swayed from the ceiling.

I screwed in a new bulb. I couldn’t believe it. Mr. Moon had tricked me, yet I could not be more delighted. He changed his tempo from forever present to a blinking cadence. A dance party was meant to ensue.

The dogs and I were all so excited. We turned on the music and started to party. Throwing confetti, we had so much fun. Eventually, though, we were tired out and had to be done.

Yet Mr. Moon continued to blink away. Not once did he falter, even when the music stopped to play.

Teetering on the ladder once more. I returned Mr. Moon’s original bulb so he could steadily shine again.

Day in and Day out, our Mr. Moon continues to glow. Our forever guiding light as we come and go.

It’s hilarious that you all are now seeing this little light everywhere! Showing up in other people’s homes, restaurants, and public restrooms. Some say he is the guiding light to my path, while others have said it’s haunted. I will be having some more fun with this fellow, but for now, it’s YOUR turn!

Let’s write a story line by line!

Let’s write our first silly little book. Comment below what you feel one line to the book should be. Write one or ten it does not matter. Maybe, collectively, there will be a children’s book here. How fun is that!

I will go ahead and start.

There once hung a light that reminded me of the moon.

Now…Go!

It shined bright for all to see,
that like the moon, it too guides you home to where you are loved & belong.

He seemed shy and bashful at first, but his luminescent glow grew stronger and stronger with each passing day. For a light fixture, he certainly had a bold and cheeky personality.

Its light was soft, it brought a comforting sense of warmth, a warmth that welcomed me home.

He shines every day even at noon.

I don’t have a line to add to the story but did want to say I think it’s so neat to have named him Mr. Moon because Moon is my Mama’s maiden name ?

What is there to see by the light of the moon…

…the fireflies blinking, the trees swaying in the gentle breeze, the stars shining fiercely, Mr. Moon opens my eyes, helps me take it all in, Mr. Moon is a compass on my newfound journey, a guide, a metaphor, shine and glow, show people the way.

This really does need to be a children’s book!

As Mr. Moon steadily shines by day and by night, the daylight draws ever closer to darkness a bit earlier every evening.

His light shines out to light the way just that much longer into our morning hours, announcing the season of falling leaves, cool rain, longer shadows and cozy nights.

Mr. Moon is here to light up the windows, a beacon to walkers by and warmth in the kitchen where pies, and cobblers are baking to fill the house with smells of home and hospitality.

Mr. Moon is your host as Miss Amy welcomes family and friends to the home she is making…

Thank you Denise! Mr. Moon has quickly become a dear friend in my unsteady world. Every day, without fail, he shows up for me. Regardless if covered by protective masking tape and painter’s paper or dust as everything is falling into place and settling, he shines on for all of us. I almost think I will always need Mr. Moon to shine.
